I thought I would take some time off from blogging, but WOW, that was some break. Anyway, there is so much to tell and not much time. So, here goes...

1. I have been busy getting my little house just that way I want it. I will post pics soon. I promise.
2. Luxe is two months from debuting at CHA in January. I am so excited.
3. I have started dating someone pretty seriously. (There... I said it. I didn't want to say anything for fear that I would jinx it.)
4. I am missing my family, but will be spending Thanksgiving with them in Hawaii. They are already there and they have been warned not to eat ALL of the shave ice at Matsumoto's before I get there.)
5. We are selling class kits on the Pam and Jen blog. We just posted the Semi-annual Kit Sale on the Pam & Jen blog . With the exception of a couple of local classes at Make , we will not have any more classes until after Luxe debuts at CHA. And when we do come back with classes, they will be ALL NEW. Good stuff, so check it out!
6. There is so much more to tell, but I have a hot date with a cute boy and a 140 pound great dane. Fun!

Tagged... Until I secure the movers to move all of my furniture from California, I will be sleeping on the Aero-bed. Mike was the kind of guy that would want us to go out, have some drinks, shoot some pool and just spend time together.

On Saturday night, I was organizing and going through some things at my parent’s house and found a New York Mets t-shirt that Mike sent me for my birthday. I have had that shirt for over four years and I have never worn it. I thought that I should finally wear it. So, I took some scissors to it and “Flashdanced” it up. I think that it turned out pretty cool. Russell, Mike's brother, wore one of Mike's Yankee's hats. We are predicting another subway series. What do ya' think?

When I got home and started looking through the pictures. I was amazed to look at the photos and see everyone’s expressions, it’s almost as if Mike was there. In fact, I really believe that he was there. He was celebrating with us and celebrating the peace that he has found.

We miss you, Mike. But, as you know I have not kept my promise of updating my blog more often. I am so bad at this and I know I say it every post, but where does the time go?

I have been busy, there has been quite bit going on in my life lately. And no, Miss Kia, I’m not too busy hanging out on Match.com to update my blog… Funny, funny girl that you are. So here is the update in no particular order.

Work: The designs for the product and plans for the new company Luxe Designs are coming along nicely.

Love life or the lack thereof: Match.com… Seriously, ladies I am here to say; The odds are good… but, the goods are ODD. Although, I must say that Donna is having much more success than me. My crush on the UPS man still endures. And still no word on his status. Not for the lack of trying. We haven’t had any shipments to the office for a while. I think I might need to pull out all of the stops and start shopping more online.

Life: Good news and bad news.
(Let’s address the bad news first.)
Bad news: As I type, I am on a flight home to California for a friend’s funeral. Mike died very suddenly last Saturday. We attempted to date on and off for a few years. He is my dear friend, Erin’s brother. He lived in New York and I met him for the first time in 2001 while I was visiting my friend, Maritri. I immediately fell for his “New York” accent even if he did make fun of my shoes on our first date. He was a guitar player. Those friends that know me well, know that I went through a spell of dating guys named Mike that played guitar. Well, this Mike was the only one that really mattered. (And since I get the last say, Mike… You liked me more than I liked you. *wink* Well, that was until I got the phone call from Erin the next day and she told me how much you liked me, then it switched. I fell for you.) (Also I can’t forget to insert three+ years worth of drama. Which is to be expected when you live 3000 miles away from one another.) Unfortunately, we could not maintain a long distance relationship, but remained friends and I remained close to his family. Most of his immediate family is in California and they have decided to have the service there. I struggled a bit with the decision to fly out, but last night and completely last minute I decided to get a ticket home. I’m glad that I get to be there with his family and be able to be in Cali with mine, as well. Tell me how is it that I have become old enough to start attending friend’s funerals?? I didn’t sign up for this crappy part of life. I’m glad that the good outweighs the bad, because this stuff sucks. If you get a chance please say a prayer for his two young boys, family and friends.

Here’s to you, Mike. You will always have a piece of my heart and you will forever be missed. Memories of you will live on. We shall meet again. Peace to you and yours. Cheers to you, man.

(*whew* I got through it.)

Good news; I found a place. It’s SO perfect for me. I am excited to be getting a place on my own. It’s in Uptown Dallas. I wasn’t really looking there, as I thought that it was a little (a lot) out of my price range. Luckily, I met Meredith a couple of weekends ago. I met her through my friend Kate. She and her brother own a triplex and a space was available. It was fortuitous, indeed. It is the cutest little place. I can’t wait to share photos. Sadly, I am going to miss living at Jen’s pad. We have had a blast the last 4 months and I think that we have done really well as roommates, co-workers and friends, ‘cause that’s how we roll. *grin* Luckily, we will see one another quite often… like everyday, that’s the fun of working and hanging out together. I know that my waistline and my liver will be thanking me. We eat and drink too well, when we are together. Although, I will miss our late night chips and salsa snacks together and of course the random Wednesday champagne drinking at home.

Outrageous...

Let me start by saying we had one fantastic weekend.

Friday, Jen and I enjoyed a little night out on the town. Before dinner we stopped at Best Cellars and shared a bottle of champagne. Best Cellars is a fab little wine bar on Knox Street. For dinner we stayed in the neighborhood and had dinner at Hector’s on Henderson. Hector’s is one of our favorite little restaurants. Great location, wonderful service and delicious food. You have to love a restaurant that you can get fried green tomatoes and crème brulee served in a candied apple… it is something to behold. After dinner we walked down to The Old Monk, Jen had plans to meet a friend. We closed down the bar and if you are looking for more of “that” story visit Jen’s blog.

Saturday, Jen, Kate, Meredith and I decided to partake in the 5th Annual Dallas becomes Chicago Pub Crawl. The “Crawl” is traditional in that you visit several pubs, although this one we rode the DART light rail to five different stops along the way with 300+ people wearing matching t-shirts. The train was an experience to say the least, especially after pub #3. The trains were incredibly crowded, the worst part is that there were several people with intentions of a quiet relaxed train ride to wherever and certainly NOT anticipating having to share space with tons of drunk people. Fun, fun, fun! Being the “virgin crawlers” that we were we gave up at the fourth pub and decided to ride the train back to our car. And like any good drinker we though we would hit Taco Cabana for some much needed grub. Thanks again, Kate and Meredith for joining us for a fun evening in Big D!!

Sunday, we spent the afternoon enjoying a double feature at the Angelika. Jen and I have made a pact; even upon my move to an apartment in the next few months, we are going to see a movie once a week. Today we saw, The Night Listener and Little Miss Sunshine. Both movies were awesome. Love them. The Night Listener was a very rich, thought-provoking and haunting story. Little Miss Sunshine, an outrageously hilarious comedy/drama. Jen and I give both movies “two thumbs up.”

Brunch, Bling and Boys...

So, it's Sunday and lately I have been spending Sundays at Donna's... I know, I am just a lucky girl. We started the morning with brunch and margaritas at Blue Goose in Plano. Good food and good times. While at brunch, Donna and I decided that we needed to take a little trip over to Recollections in Frisco. Since we were in Frisco, we thought that it would be fun to stop by Nordstrom at Stonebriar. Donna needed to buy a new pair of shades for her fishing trip to Canada next week. We decided on a fun pair of Ralph Lauren aviator style sunglasses. So cute. And since we were already at Nordstrom and they have such a fantastic shoe department, we thought that we should take a quick little cruise through to see if there was anything that we couldn't live without. Well, I found some... a pair of "bling-a-licious" sandals, they just had to come home with me. After our "busy" afternoon we decided to chill at the house the remainder of the day, drink wine and play on our computers. Much to my chagrin, Donna "made" me sign up for Match.com. Signing up for Match is WAY out of my comfort zone. It is SO not my thing, but I thought that I would give it a whirl. We fine-tuned the profile and uploaded some pics... and now we wait. I HATE that! I am not a patient person and I don't wait well.

Champagne, thunderstorms and Love Dip - all on a Monday night…

Sometimes you come home from work and your roommate is a recent convert to the world of MySpace. I warned her about the possible addiction that follows “just signing up.” It seems so simple… until you are completely addicted. (By the way, she is currently cussing me out for introducing her to it!!) On that note, since neither of us are planning on leaving the house tonight, I thought that I would make dinner. Yes, indeed. I made dinner. Yep, I went downstairs and carefully arranged a lovely presentation of hummus, pita chips, tortilla chips and "LOVE DIP"! (Okay, so I only “arranged” dinner, but hey - for me, that’s a step in the right direction.) An excellent dinner. No? Seriously. "Love Dip" is an “experience”- if you know what I mean. You can find "Love Dip" at Central Market. You must try it to believe it!! And you are saying to yourself,; What would better compliment "Love Dip"? Why champagne, of course. Yes, what else could make the evening even better? Did you say a thunderstorm?? Why yes, we have those as well. LOVING it! Did I hear one of you say the “UPS man?” Well, he couldn’t make it tonight, although he did come by the office and deliver some goodies. So, I did get to see him today and that counts for something, doesn’t it? I thought so.

(And seriously, how many times can you mention "Love Dip" in one post?)

Addicted...

Welcome to my latest addiction. My life has been a blur. I can’t believe that it is already August. This year is slipping by so quickly. I also can’t believe that I haven’t blogged in OVER 20+ days. I am such a freak. So, here goes… I am FINALLY bloggin’.

I am completely in love. Yes, I have fallen in love… With my new computer!! I LOVE it! I have decided that I choose computers like I choose my boyfriends; I love it more than it loves me. I love it and it is completely incapable of loving me back. Although, I have decided to give in and just live with it!!! Seriously, it’s the story of my life.

Everything is progressing nicely with all of the plans for the new company. We still have a ton of work to do and I become incredibly overwhelmed when I take time to really think about it. I am working through some of my anxiety over the project. It’s a process.

I have been dog-sitting and house-sitting for a couple of friends. I love the opportunity to hang out with some pups. Last week I was hanging out with Charlie (he is a German Shepard and Basset Hound mix… so, stinkin’ cute) and Emmie (she is a chocolate Lab.) This week I am hanging out with Chloe and Riley, two of the most adorable little Cocker Spaniels. It has taken them a while to get use to me being there. They miss their family a ton. They sit by the back door and patiently await their “humans.” I so totally know what that feels like. Not that I have ever been left behind, but I can most certainly empathize with them. I miss my family too!

Oh, and for all who know or want to know the scoop… yes, my crush on the UPS man endures. I am working on finding out more about him. He is kind of shy, but that’s cute, right?! I am still unsure about the existence of a wife and possibly kiddos. He recently went on vacation and we tried to get the info from his sub driver… not so much. Is there some sort of “wing man” understanding between UPS drivers. Seriously. He wasn’t giving anything up. Oh, well. I will get it out of him somehow. And for all who would like to send “goodie boxes” or “care packages,” please send them to the office via UPS. I thank you in advance. *grin*

Well, I am off to work. Thanks to all of my friends for being so patient with me. I promise to blog more often.

Sunday morning… I mean, afternoon…

So, sometimes your roommate is working through her jet-lag from her recent trip to Bali and you, subconsciously feel the need to do the same and sleep half the day away and finally get your lazy, sorry behind out of bed at oh, I don’t know 11 AM!!! Seriously. I enjoy sleeping in, but that is truly ridiculous. So, in order to make myself feel slightly less guilty I have made the bed, showered, made a fresh pot o’ coffee, drinking a cup o’ said coffee and finally, yes, finally… updating this sad little blog.

I really enjoyed my trip back home. I know that St. Louis and Alton, Illinois are not really my home, but it certainly feels like it when I am there. It was great to catch up with the fam and some of the friends that I have made in all of my visits. My Aunt Jean came up from Houston and the two of us met some of her friends for a trip to a couple of the Missouri Wineries. The grounds of the wineries are stunning. I am still not sold on the wine, but it was a lovely day among friends. I was in Alton over the Fourth of July and spent the evening in the Jacuzzi with my Aunt Kim, sipping vodka tonics, enjoying the fireworks in the neighborhood, watching the lightning bugs (and yes, to this day those little bugs still absolutely fascinate me) and truly enjoyed being eaten alive by the mosquitoes. Fun!!! The highlight of all of my trips to Alton, aside from spending quality time with my family, is Fast Eddie’s Bon Air. It is a total dive bar, which I LOVE! How do I even begin to describe this place?? The “Bon-Bon,” as it is lovingly referred to, offers some of the best bar grub you can imagine and ice-cold draft beer served in a frosty glass for the surreal price of (are you sitting down?) $2.24! I spent two evenings there on my trip and I would spend a lifetime if I could. So, check it out some time when you are in Alton!

Happy Friday!!

Thank goodness it's Friday and it's even a long weekend!

Tonight, I am meeting Cindie Miller and family for dinner. We are going to her daughter Allison's performance of Grease at UT Dallas, as well. I am really looking forward to finally seeing her on stage.

Tomorrow, I am off to St. Louis to visit the fam and celebrate the Fourth! I have really been looking forward to this trip. I have needed a dose of the "fam." I think it will help a bit with the homesickness that I have been experiencing lately. I love trips to my Grandma's house. These trips keep me grounded and remind of my roots. Many a summer was spent at G-ma's house. I just *love* those humid 95 degree summer days!! It's nothing an ice cold beer can't help. The best part is that G-ma always plants a summer garden full of yummy veggies. Delish.

Happy Six-Month Anniversary, Kelly and JD!

In honor of their "half anniversary"... I thought that I would share a few photos from my sister's wedding. Kelly and JD were married December 31, 2005. Yes, indeed... a New Year's Eve celebration. In fact, it was a scottish themed New Year's Eve celebration!! It was definitely one of the most fastastic weddings that I have ever had the opportunity to be a part of. Kelly, JD and our parents worked very hard to put together quite the soiree. Enjoy the photos. All photos were taken by Indgrid and Devon. We made plans early in the week to go blueberry picking on Saturday in Edom, Texas at (oh so, cliché) Blueberry Hill Farms. We got an early start and headed out east. It was a beautiful sunny day. We got to the farm at about 10 AM and not knowing how ambitious the endeavor Donna, Tracey, Noah and I each took the larger of two baskets. At 10:30 AM, I had a bottom layer of my bucket barely covered. At that point I decided it would be best to be less selective when picking my blueberries.

At about 11 AM, the thunder started. At about 11:05, when Noah, Donna and I were at the furthest point on the farm that we could possibly be… the rain started. Not misty, tolerable rain, BIG drops of rain. Mind you, they suggest that you wear closed toe shoes when picking blueberries, which would be a great idea… next time. Donna found a shed for us to duck into for us to wait out the storm. She found path to cut through the bushes. Again, closed toe shoes would be a great idea… next time. When I cut through the bushes to get to the shed, I tripped over the “eff-ing” sprinkler system falling and spilling my freaking basket o’ blueberries. Yes, Noah found it rather entertaining that I yelled “the ‘S’ word.” Note to self: A good friend is a friend that will help you try to pick-up said blueberries… in the pouring rain. Thanks, Donna. We finally got to the shed and do you want to what “fun” really is?? Well, fun is standing sopping wet in a shed with who knows what kind of critters looking for shelter from the storm and a nine year old boy! Noah was less than thrilled to be spending his Saturday morning with Donna and me picking blueberries and now standing in a creepy shed in the pouring rain. After a while the rain finally let up a bit and we walked back to the store. We bought our berries and some extra goodies. We got in a car and decided that it was time for some lunch. We stopped at a cute little restaurant for lunch. The best part, where the restaurant was located… it has only sprinkled. We looked a little strange as we walked our drenched selves into the restaurant. We enjoyed some good ol’ country cookin’. After lunch we made our way back home to the big city.

I just wanted to share...

... One of my favorite photos. This is of Michelle, Me and my Dad on my sister's wedding day, New Year's Eve 2005. We were waiting to walk down the aisle and typically my Father had us busting up laughing in the back of the church. This was one among many of my favorite memories from that day. I am so grateful that the photographers caught this one on film.

…. finally, a lazy weekend.

I have been looking forward to a weekend like this for some time now and it is finally here, a lazy day. It’s a lazy weekend that I need to spend catching up on things like laundry, (Oh, my goodness) a post on the blog, designing some business cards, a new design for the blog banner… I have an endless list of things I want to do. I would even like to scrapbook for myself… I know, it’s rather ambitious of me to believe that it would even be in the cards. I really love weekends like this. Days spent doing a whole lotta nothin’ and evenings out on the town.

On Friday night, we decided on a change of venue. Mary, Jen and I hung out at Pete’s Dueling Pianos in Addison, drinking and singing at the top of our lungs with tons of people we didn’t know. Just imagine 200+ people consuming too much alcohol and singing “Sweet Caroline.” What could be more fun than that, I ask you?

On Saturday night, Brandy met us at the house and we headed over to Mi Cocina for dinner and margaritas with Todd. After dinner, Todd went home and the girls were off to Gilley’s (yep, like Urban Cowboy… but, the one in the movie is the original in Pasadena, Texas.) Stoney Larue was playing. I am such a sucker for live music and ice cold Shiner. Personally, I couldn’t think of a better way to spend an evening. Just imagine 350+ people, half, yes, half, men and women in “sequin-dy” shirts drinking too much alcohol and dancing their arses off. What could be more fun than that, I ask you? I was excited to wear jeans, my boots, however I opted out on the “sequin-dy” shirt and decided on a plain ol’ black top. Boring… I know.

Today, is Father’s Day. I called the Pops this morning and wished him a Happy Father’s Day. It is my first one away from the Fam. I am really wishing that I were there today to help out with the biscuits and gravy brunch. It’s a tradition that we started with The Johnson Family (our dearest family friends.) The kids (Me, Kelly, Darin and Tara) always make brunch on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. After brunch, we sit around fat and happy all day. It’s the best! To be honest, I think I am feeling a little homesick. I so miss my family. I love you, Dad… mean it.

One down, two to go…

*Whew* I am so exhausted. Jen and I taught nine scrapbooking classes this weekend at the Great American Scrapbook Convention in Arlington, Texas. The show was three days, we taught three classes each day beginning at 8 AM. (The test in itself: those of you that know me, know that I am not accustomed to waking at 5:30 every morning to leave the house by 6:45!) The best part of the show and the classes was seeing familiar faces, old friends and making some new ones. I am looking forward to hearing from you all and seeing you again the near future. Jen and I will be teaching at two more GASC shows this year and if you will be in the area come and hang out with us in San Antonio (August) and Plano in (October.)

In addition to the classes at GASC we taught at both Scrapbook Warehouse locations in Colleyville and in Lewisville. It was a super-fun using American Crafts products and Pinecone Press’ metal album to create a Metal Media Album to store CD’s of music or photos or whatever your little heart desires. (The concept for the class came from the “Road Trip” album that Jen and several of my friend’s created for me before I moved to Texas. Check out the link to that post here.) The bummer is that the classes did not fill, but the good news is that we have a few kits from the class to sell (while they last.) The kits have $50 worth of American Crafts and Pinecone Press product! The kit includes a Pinecone Press metal CD album, a pack of the New AC Trademark rub-ons, an entire box of AC ribbon, a black Memory Marker, several sheets of AC paper from “The Goods” line and five recordable CD’s. Where does the time go?? Seriously. So much has happened and yet it only feels a couple of days have passed. So, here are some of the details since my last post…

Last week, I worked on a little project for Wendy at Creativity Inc. She called me last week and needed booth samples for the National Stationery Show in New York this week. I’m jealous that I am not there. I guess if I can’t be there, it’s just as cool to have my art there.

On Friday evening the girls and I flew to San Francisco. Jen was there for a meeting with the moderator team from FlyerTalk.com. Mary and I tagged along. We arrived around 7 and met some friends for a lovely dinner at Absinthe. Poor Jen was in meetings ALL day Saturday. Mary and I met up with John, a friend of Jen and Mary’s from FT, we drove across the Golden Gate Bridge and explored around Muir Woods. Mary and I did as best we could walking and hiking in flip flops and sandals. We didn’t really take into consideration that we might be hiking when we packed for our whirlwind tour on SF. We continued driving up Hwy 1 along the coast stopped a couple of places along the way to take some fantastic (I will share some in my next post) photos. We ended up in Stinson Beach for lunch and explored around the little town for a bit. The best part was when we returned we discover that we only spent about $20 each the WHOLE day! Which is truly an amazing feat when traveling in and around SF. John grew up in the bay area and works in Baltimore, yet lives in St. Louis. He was a great tour guide and he took us to several of his favorite areas for photos along the drive back to the city. Later in the evening we met back up with Jen and the gang for dinner at Zuni Cafe and Grill (by the way, thank you, Jeff!). We had another unbelievable meal and flirted a bit with the delicious 20-something waiter. On Sunday morning we were off to the airport for our 9:40 flight back to DFW. Whew!

On Monday and Tuesday, it was back to the grind; a project to finish at the office. There is much to be done. The to-do list is growing. Today, Jen and I got up early to leave the house at 7 for a drive to Waco for a kick-off meeting. It was a great meeting and I learned tons. Now, I think things are finally clicking. On the way back we put the top down on the convertible and drove back to Dallas and got a little, no A LOT crispy. My favorite part is the seat-belt stripe across my chest. Oh, soooooooo sexy.

Take a deep breath.

Yeah... It' Friday! I had a pretty busy week. I completed my very first "big" project at the new job. I know it's not "big" in comparison to most of the things that Jen takes care of at the office. However, it was BIG, HUGE, and now it's DONE!

Last night, Jen and I went out for drinks, appetizers and "eye candy" at Cool River in Las Colinas. We did have appetizers and drinks, but, the eye candy was slim to none. And when you can't find any cute boys a girl needs some chocolate... A chocolate martini, perhaps? We found a great little fondue spot close to the house. Heaven, truly. We had a chocolate martini and chocolate fondue with anything your little heart would ever want to dunk in some chocolate. Yummy.

Tonight, we are off to dinner (back to the fondue spot.) Tomorrow, I am up rather early for a Saturday to catch a flight back to home. I am looking forward to spending an afternoon with my Godchildren. (I miss those little munchins.) On Sunday, my girlfriend, Christine is getting married on a yacht in Newport Beach and Monday I am coming home. Another busy weekend.

No rest for the wicked... I guess.

Weekend Update

Friday night, Jen had to fulfill her bridesmaid duties and attend the wedding rehearsal. I decided to stay home and do absolutely nothing. That was until Jen and her friend Joe returned home. We opened a bottle of wine and spent the remainder of the evening watching E True Hollywood Story- Beverly Hills 90210 and the ever-engaging Cheerleader Nation.

Saturday, we had to be up reasonably early to head over Brandy’s house, I was helping with make-up. A quick Starbucks run and we were on our way. After hair and make-up prep and consumption of three bottles of champagne among eight people, it was time to head over to the church for Brandy and Todd’s big day. It was a lovely ceremony at an adorable little church in Flower Mound. The six-hour (yes! 6 HOURS) reception was held at the Marriott-Solana in Westlake. The reception was entertaining to say the least. What wouldn’t be considered entertaining when you float four kegs? (Yes, FOUR.) Great food. Great music. Great friends. It was very cool to be invited and have the opportunity to share in their day. Here's a photo of how the Okies throw down:

(I think this during the "gatoring." Yep, see the the guy on his belly on the dance floor.) Par-tay

And here's a photo of me and Jen after partaking in the gracious hospitality (ie: free booze) of our dear friends from Oklahoma

***edited: Jen made me remove the photo. She hated it! But, if you would like to see a fab photo of the lovely Miss Jen... check it out here.***

It was soon after we shot this photo that we called Mary... thanks, Mary for enduring the speaker phone DUI (dialing under the influence.) You are a true friend.

Sunday, we got up early and made our way home to relax. We made plans with Mary to meet for lunch in Addison at The Blue Goose. We ran some errands, trips to Scrapbook Warehouse, DSW and the office. We spent the rest of the day chillin' in the loft catching up on TIVOed Oprah shows. A perfect Sunday.

Just a quick update...

Another week has flown by. I can hardly believe that I have lived here for almost a month. The month of May is jam-pack with three trips (Cali, San Fran and New Orleans) and quite a few projects both "creative-work" and "work-work" related. My social calendar is quickly filling up.... thanks, Jen.

Thursday night, Jen and I met the Magic Scraps girls at The Grand Lux restaurant at The Galleria in Dallas. It was so much fun to catch up. Ashley and I have known one another for about 7 years. It's actually a great story, that I will have to share it in another post, another time... because, this is a just a quick update. Anywho... we took a great photo of all of us.

Tomorrow is Brandy and Todd's wedding. It is sure to be a great time. I am doing make-up for 4-5 members of the wedding party. I have a great dress and I am looking forward to hanging with some boys from Oklahoma. 'Cause nothing says a party like being all dressed up and drinkin' keg beer. It's amazing how much you can get done in one evening. I never quite understood how my mother did it all. She quite possibly invented the concept of "multi-tasking." Maintained a "real job", volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, member of National Charity League, attended each and every one of my tennis matches throughout my life, ran us from one end of town to the other for various reasons, ballet lessons, tennis lessons, music lessons, you name and she got it done! How??? How is it that I can hardly get myself to work on time?? Let alone figuring something out for lunch and dinner or possibly wrapping my brain around the idea of getting my sorry *behind* to the gym.

Tonight, I had one of those very productive and dare I say; "grown-up" evenings. First, I came and planned my schedule for tomorrow. I also took that time to cross-off all that I completed this afternoon off my "to do" list. Second, I watched American Idol (I couldn't help myself... I had to do it) while chatting with Jen online. Third, I started a load of laundry. Fourth, I took out the trash and the recycle. Fifth, I started another load of laundry. Sixth, I designed a couple of business cards and worked on a new banner for the blog. Seventh, I washed my face and applied a Kiehl's Rare Earth Facial Cleansing Masque (I'm sure that you can only imagine how lovely it looks.) Last, I am updating the blog while I am waiting on my last load of clothes and my masque to dry. I can't believe it. I got it all done in one night and no, it's not 2 AM.

Tonight was my first glimpse that I have truly learned from the best (although, I still have no idea how she got it all done with two kids.) I love you, Mom.

Festivals, Fried Food and Friends.

I spent the weekend in downtown Fort Worth with the girls. I had an amazing weekend hangin’ with the girls. Friday we left the office around 2, ran home to pack our bags, put the top down on the convertible and made our way downtown. Jen booked a lovely room at The Ashton… wow! Mary joined us to “chillax” in the hotel room; drink a bottle of champagne and freshen-up for our evening at The Flying Saucer. Jen and Mary belong to an online frequent flyer forum called FlyerTalk. Several of their friends flew in from various cities to join us for the festival. I am happy to find out that it was rather uneventful in comparison to other Flyer Talk “dos.”

Saturday, we met the gang at Ol’ South Pancake House for breakfast. Ol’ South is a Fort Worth institution. Excellent food. I am looking forward to making my way back some time very soon. After breakfast, Jen and I decided to take in the magic of the Main Street Arts Festival. The weather was delightful and it was nice to get a little sun and work a bit on the much needed, pre-summer tan. Later in the afternoon, we found the “Fried What?” booth; you know, the booth… the booth that sells the fried Twinkies, fried Oreos, fried Snickers, fried pickles and best yet, fried green tomatoes with ranch dressing dipping sauce. (Yes, we will be taking donation for Pam’s angioplasty.) Jen and I decided it would be best to partake in the fried green tomatoes (because they are a vegetable) and a jumbo sweet tea. Delish. We soon made our way to 8.0 for mojitos and air-conditioning. Around 3, met the FlyerTalk gang at Billy Miner’s Saloon for cheeseburgers and cheap, ice cold Shiner on draft. Later in the evening we caught back up with the crowd at the skybox for the evening concerts. After a day full of Ol’ South, fried everything, sunshine, mojitos, Shiner and “diet Coors” all night in the skybox it was time to head back to the hotel. We were all in our jammies and in bed by 10:30. Out.

This morning we got up around 8:30-ish and were out to meet everyone for breakfast at La Madeleine. We all enjoyed a yummy breakfast. And thankfully, there was plenty of coffee to go around. We left downtown today around noon to head back to Dallas. We made arrangements to meet the book club girls at the Scrapbook Warehouse in Colleyville. We stopped to have dinner at El Fenix for dinner on the way home. Now, I am home and in my jammies. I am disappointed that Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives are just catch-up episodes. I am hoping that I can stay awake to watch Big Love and The Sopranos.

Whew. What a weekend! (Didn’t I say that last weekend??)

We are family...

I thought that I would share with you some of the photos that my sister recently sent me from the trip to Atlanta. Diggin’ it, for sure. Decided to try something new for dinner; Thai Kitchen Rice Noodle Bowl… delish. I love living in my new digs. I couldn’t have asked for an easier transition. It’s amazing how everything has fallen into place. Everything in it’s own time, I suppose. Try something new; it’s a good thing! I thought for something new I would write my post, eat dinner and drink a Shiner while hanging out on the patio. I’m enjoying the weather; it’s slightly cloudy, but still warm… lovely, nonetheless. I’m sitting here in the backyard watching the flights going and coming from DFW, carrying thousands of people, hundreds of destinations… and you know, any other time I would love to be in their shoes; seeking a new adventure but, today I am happy right where I am. Contentment… it’s new to me.

Whew... What a weekend!!

Good Friday... turned out to be, well, good.
Jen and I enjoyed a leisurely afternoon. We had lunch at Tin Star and browsed around Central Market. Friday evening we planned a recon mission in downtown Fort Worth, checking out all of the hot spots for next weekend. It was my first time in all of my trips to here to finally get the opportunity to check out Fort Worth. Fun, fun, fun. Dinner at Daddy Jack's and drinks at The Flying Saucer. Thankfully, a pair of "evil Coach heels" didn't even put a damper in the evening.

Saturday...
Spent the evening hanging out on Greenville Avenue with Mary and Jen. We enjoyed a delicious dinner a Terillis. Pomegranate-tinis, crab claws and roasted garlic... oh, my. After dinner, we walked across the way to have a pint or two at The Dubliner. There was quite an eclectic crowd which can always make for an interesting evening and several "heinous crimes against fashion" (j.) which provided much of the entertainment for the night. Around 1-ish we decided to head home for the evening or so we thought. We walk back to Terilli's to pick up the car from the valet attendant. Apparently, they had lost Jen's keys. Yes, LOST. Gone, vanished... not only lost our keys they lost another groups keys. Unbelievable. Long story short, we made it home safely close to 3 Am, with no keys in hand. The only upside to the situation is that I pretty much know my way in and out of Dallas because I made the trip 4 times within a 6 hour period of time.

Sunday...
Happy Easter! I drank a lot of coffee this morning with intentions of fooling myself into thinking that I got a full night's sleep. Ha. Around noon, we joined The Miller Family and Mary at the country club for a lovely Easter Brunch. A beautiful spread of goodies including all of the traditional Easter fare, chocolate fountain and "pseudo-Bellini's." Apparently, the bar at the club did not have the ingredients to make a true Bellini so, instead it was kind of like a Screwdiver/Bellini... Jen eloquently referred to them as "screw-linis!" The remainder of the afternoon was spent taking care of my taxes (I know, I am such a freakin' procrastinator), lounging on the couch finishing up some work "stuff" and looking forward to all of my Sunday night TV programs. Ahh... the good life.

Honey…..iiiiiii’mmmm home.

Well, after 1,300 miles I’m finally here. I was thoroughly impressed with all of the “thriving metropolises” that I had the opportunity to drive through. Holy cow, there are some small towns out there in West Texas and they all have a Sonic! And I love any town that you can get tater tots and a Coconut Cream Pie Shake!

Tonight, Jen and I made an appearance at the Scrapbook Warehouse in Colleyville. We chatted with the book club members and discussed Self-Centered. We planned a fun project and filled everyone in on our plans for GASC-Arlington in June. We had dinner and mojito’s with Mary and Cindie at Gloria’s and enjoyed the entertainment provided by the inebriated guests on the patio. Hilarious!

I love that tonight’s not a “school night” and Jen and I can stay up late and be “girls.” Now here I sit updating my blog (I know it’s looooong overdue) drinking a lovely glass of champagne, waiting for this charcoal mask to dry on my face and watching E True Hollywood Story… I love being a girl!

Road Trippin’.

Well, I’m in Tucson, one-third of the way there. What is about a road trip that encourages one to consume the crapiest food possible and think that it tastes great??? Let's see, an entire bag of Sweedish Fish candy (only the red ones, of course), a spicy chicken sandwich, a Frosty and a large Diet Coke from Wendy's... only justified because I am road trippin' and that I am remembering to drink all of my water.

And thanks to my dear friends and their custom mix CD’s, the trip has been a blast so far! Miss Kim, you kill me…I only aspire to be as “ghetto-fab” as you my dear. That “thumpin’ bumpin’” mix is a favorite for sure. And Paulo, your sweet messages have made the journey worthwhile. Thanks for all of your encouragement along the way. Mary, my dear friend, only you can put “Copacabana”, “Love Shack” and Paul Simon tunes all on the same CD. On Sunday I was given one of the most thoughtful and sweetest gifts that I have ever received. HOLY COW! I went up to my room at Jennifer’s house (I was in Dallas for one last trip before I move out there.) On my bed was a lovely little gift. Jen coordinated with my friends from all over to make custom mix CD’s for my road trip this Saturday. Jen complied them in an awesome little CD album. Each of the CD’s has a custom cover and rumor has it that one CD has special messages (I love you, Paulo.) I have enjoyed reading all of the playlists. I haven’t listened to any of the CD’s yet… and it’s killin’ me. The best part is that everyone thought I that I knew something... and Jen can attest to my sincere surprise. Y'all really got me. I was so overwhelmed that you all took time to participate. (Ask Jen, I really did stand in her kitchen and cry.)

Check out Jen's post about my “Road Tunes” album here.

Fine-tuned

Anyone that knows me, knows that I have a crazy obsession with music. I have always wanted to learn to play a musical instrument. However, I could never read the music. Nor could I get my lazy behind to practice enough! Anyway I have found that there is one thing I that doesn't need practice, aside from practicing restraint, downloading some "tune-age."

I, absolutely with every ounce of my being, LOVE and APPRECIATE music. I welcome variety. I listen to everything from Bjork to (my Texas friends are going to LOVE this) Asleep at the Wheel. Crazy, I know. With my road trip coming up I have recently spent the last couple of evenings downloading new music to add to my collection. Have you checked out on iTunes Celebrity Playlists??? If not, it's a fun little glimpse into their music psyche. For each song included in their playlist, they share why it's significant and what they like about the song. Fun! And even better... I have found quite a bit of music that I would not have been exposed to. Let me share my "celebrity playlist" (feel free to laugh, I did. Celebrity! HA!)

*California- Joni Mitchell I know ALL the words. This is my jam.

*King without a Crown-Matisyahu I am soooo diggin' this. I truly captivated by his vocals and message. Spiritually inspiring.

*Northern Sky- Nick Drake Nick Drake what can I say? Pure genius. A lovely, lovely song. Dedicate it to your "northern sky."

*Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough- Michael Jackson You have to love MJ. Try this one on your next Karaoke attempt. He's the man and anyone who can get a nation to moonwalk is pretty cool in my book.

*Rain- Patty Griffin Patty is an amazing singer/songwriter! Check it out.

*La Cienega Just Smiled- Ryan Adams This songs just speaks to me, right now.

*In the Waiting Line- Zero 7 Amazing. You instantly feel relaxed.

*Proof- Coldplay Oh, to be that in love. I want to be someone's "proof."

*Forever- Ben Harper Ah, another love song. This is my mantra. This is what it's ALL about.

*In Da Club- 50 Cent "We gonna party like it's your birthday." What can I say... It is what it is.

*(Sittin on) The Dock of the Bay- Otis Redding Need I say more??

*Why Can't I Be You- The Cure The Cure is timeless.

*On Your Side- Pete Yorn Lovely little song from a boy from Jersey.

*Gold Digger- Kanye West Yes, we all thought it and Kanye made song about it. Outrageous and so catchy. Also, "the song" from my sisters bachelorette party.

*Army of Me- Bjork Best song to blast when you're feeling a little on-edge. Play it loud!

*Cosy in the Rocket- Psapp I couldn't resist adding this one I love Grey's Anatomy.

*Two Step- Dave Matthews Band This song is dangerous to have playing in your car, it makes you drive really fast.

*Every Breath You Take- The Police Can you say obsession? You can't help it. You have to love this song. Interesting, that to this day, people think that this is song about love and togetherness. Stalker.

*Fade Into You- Mazzy Star Add this to your "chillin" playlist on your iPod.

*Be (Intro)- Common This songs has the best intro! Listen, you'll love it too.

*Fill Me In- Craig David I have listened to this album nothing short of a two-hundred times. This album is close to perfection.

*Love Will Come Through- Travis Listen to this song once and it will be with you FOREVER. You will crave it.

*Angel and Burning Up-Madonna It's hard decide what Madonna song to pick. Man, do these songs bring back memories of slumber parties and dance-offs.

Feel free to post and share some tunes to add to this list. Hopefully, I have shared something new for you to check out.

Rock on.

Working…

Working on finishing up on the details for my classes this Saturday. It's a birthday layout for a family friend of mine. Tara will be sixteen in June. I have known her since the day her parents brought her home from the hospital. And just recently I was home visiting my family and Tara and I decided that we would go to Cold Stone for some yummies... and she drove my car! It's truly amazing how quickly time flies. Also, can I just say; I don't remember being that stinkin' cute at fifteen. I felt like the biggest nerd, completely awkward and uncertain about myself. I envy the confidence and pride the she has in herself. She is smart, witty and wise, wise, wise beyond her years. Talk about a chick that is going to be smokin' hot in her college years! Look out, world.

The paper is the NEW BG! Hello, the colors are delish!

Enjoy!

Sometimes…

Sometimes… you take nearly an entire week to update your blog.

Sometimes… your cousin (the bride) picks you up at the airport Thursday evening and you go back to her house for the night and drink several Coeur Royales (Chambord and Champagne)with some of her girlfriends and decide to go out to The Clermont Lounge (well known for hiring all of the “retired strippers”) in Atlanta. Hilarious. All I have to say is it was a real self-esteem builder. You really do leave the joint walking a little taller and feelin’ pretty damn good about yourself.

Sometimes… you close down the bar and think that you are hungry and collectively think that a patty melt at The Majestic Diner would be a good idea at 3 o’clock in the morning. (Note to self… it’s never a good idea.)

Sometimes… you tell your cousin that you would be happy to do make-up for her and the bridal party… that is before you knew that there are 10 bridesmaids! Yes, 10!

Sometimes… there is a cake made out of Krispy Kreme doughnuts at the rehearsal dinner. Pure genius, no?

Sometimes… you get lost leaving your cousin’s house at 3 AM after making wedding bouquets (for 10 bridesmaids) and centerpiece arrangements (for 18 tables.) End up in a rather “suspect” area of Atlanta and see this sign. Coincidence? I think not.

Sometimes… the bridal party doesn't start hair and make-up until 2 o’clock for a 6 o’clock wedding! Yep, I did hair for two bridesmaids and make-up for all 11 members of the bridal party in 3 ½ hours. There truly is a God.

Sometimes… you mentioned God two times in one post.

Sometimes… you are sitting outside in a lovely setting for a wedding and it's freakin’ 48 degrees with a breeze. Oh yes, a cold, cold breeze. Outrageous! Thankfully, the reception was inside.

Sometimes… there is an open bar and if you flirt a little with the cutie bartender he will make you "big boy" drinks. 16 oz. Gin and Tonics, baby! Can you hang?

Sometimes… the dance floor for the reception is outside on the porch at Rhodes Hall facing Peachtree. Yes, everyone in Atlanta could drive-by and see you shakin' your "drinkin' 16 oz. Gin and Tonics all night" groove thing!

Sometimes… you fly home on a Sunday night jet-lagged with intentions of watching all of the Sunday night TV shows and you fall asleep at 10:30.

Sometimes… you are going to OD on Airborne because everyone in the office has a cold.

And sometimes… you need to do something more productive this afternoon than post on your blog.

10... After work on Friday, I stopped by Scrapbook Oasis in Irvine for some scrappin' stuff to help inspire a page or two. Found some good stuff. Diggin' the paisley these days! I just couldn't leave the store without buying a new paisley foam stamp by Teresa Collins for Junkitz.

I'm planning on getting some more scrappin' done tonight. Still working on the "emergency-ish" design call. (Yes, Jen between the two of us we have successfully used the new word four times.) I need to watch Grey's Anatomy and Sopranos from last night. I feel asleep during The Sopranos last night... Isn't that sacrilegious or something??

Sunday, lazy Sunday...

Where does the weekend go? When I left work on Friday it seemed like I had two whole days to get all that I needed to get done. Two whole days… and I have only completed about 40% of the tasks that I planned to accomplish. I am having trouble getting motivated today; it’s chilly and cloudy...and now raining. All I can do is sip hot coffee and listen to my tunes or watch Sex and the City DVD’s. I decided to come home yesterday and visit a bit with my l’il sis, brother-in-law and the super-dog, Sophie. I am trying to squeeze in as much family time as I can before the move. However, I did finish my projects for my classes at Ever After. Thank goodness. I have some laundry to get done. I have about 7 layouts to get done for the “emergency-ish” design call from Pinecone Press. I plan on doing that tonight while watching Grey’s Anatomy, Sopranos and Big Love. I LOVE TIVO!

I am looking forward to my trip this weekend to Atlanta for my cousin’s wedding. Hangin’ with the “right-coast” Lambies… FUN! After all, what’s more fun than Karaoke with drunken family members in shirts and ties singing Aerosmith tunes? (Just a thought; isn’t Karaoke always shortly followed by the word ‘drunk’???) Stay tuned for the incriminating photographs.

More chicks that I dig...

I just love this photo of Tina, Me, Laura and Jen! Remember the aforementioned diet I planned on starting, in my previous post??? Well, seven pounds down... Unbelievable. I am working on cutting out all of the sugar and eating a very healthy and balanced low-carb diet. Trying only to eat healthy carbs. Now I only have (I know that I am completely exaggerating...) 1, 575,000 pounds to go. (It certainly feels like that some days. Doesn't it.?) It's time to get my rear in gear and routinely exercise. *Sigh* I love that Ms. Oprah, the goddess that she is, openly admits to truly loathing exercise.

I will keep y'all posted on the progress. She was a student of mine in a class sponsored by Pinecone Press. It was a time when I strongly believed in the power of the EK Success Platinum Scroll and Brush Pen (don't worry, I still *love* the pen... They just don't make it anymore.) I also encouraged my students to give it a try. However, the lovely Ms. Dottie sat in the front row and adamantly opposed the idea. Instantly, we became friends. Even though, we couldn't come to an agreement on the "pen issues." We have kept in touch via email/phone because the two of us live on opposite coasts and luckily we have had the chance to catch up a few times at various trade shows. Last July she attended CKU-Orlando, once again was signed up for the class that I was teaching and once again Dottie's smiling face was there in the front row. A few days ago, she emailed this photo. We started reasonably early in the morning and it still took all day Saturday, to load, drive to destination and unload! And thank god, there was an elevator.

Now a few days after my move, I am now missing my white walls, crappy light tan carpet, gas fireplace with one hour auto-shut off, tiny kitchen with a garbage disposal that never worked, no cable, hearing the airplanes taking off from SNA... I liked my l'il place. In the entire 367 days that I lived in that apartment I never could smell the ocean (it's was only 1/2 from PCH)... and the very last night I was there, I could smell it for the first time. I had to blink away a few tears. It's time to move on. Moving on to Dallas in April for new business opportunities and to be near friends. *sigh* Moving on... it's a good thing.

Joyeux Mardi Gras, y'all.
Happy Fat Tuesday! Cafe Lattes, Beignets and King's Cake for everyone. Yummmmm.

Success... well, almost.

This evening I immediately came home from work with 5 medium boxes, 2 large boxes, blank newspaper stuff, a new tape gun and a brand new roll of packing tape. I should be packing up my things. Especially the items that I know that I will not be using in the next couple of days (ie. The entire kitchen, in fact has anything in there ever been in use?) I have on several occasions this week found different stall tactics to differ my attention to something other than packing. Last night #173 was the Women's figure skating competition (yes, I know that I am perfectly capable of packing while watching TV.) Tonight #174 LOST is on... Hello, and we all know that LOST is not the type of show that you can watch without paying attention to the details. And now #175 is adding a post to the recent blog that I have started. Most of all, I keep re-thinking the amount of time it will take to pack up this l'il "compartment." All 500 square feet of this place. It should only be half a day, start to finish. Maybe subconsciously I am stalling because I don't really want to leave this place. Nah... I know that can't be it. Although, it has been fun... I am really looking forward to what the future holds.

My First Post...

Well, here it is...
